Uterine Fibroids and Polyps – Medical Illustration
A medical illustration clearly showing how both polyps and uterine fibroids sit within the uterus.
An endometrial polyp is a small overgrowth of tissue that arises from the uterine lining (the endometrium).
The illustration clearly shows the oval and round polyps, and shows how they remain attached to the uterine wall or the cervical canal by a large base or thin stalk.
Uterine fibroids are large overgrown tissues made up of muscle tissue. Fibroids are a benign tumour that originates from the smooth muscle layer of the uterus. They usually grow within the thick muscular layer of the uterus.
